FAQ

How do you join friends in Fart Together?
Steam documents online co-op for 2–4 players but not the lobby or invite UI. Player posts on the Steam discussion hub mention friend invites and room codes; GamesMrkt has not published a step-by-step guide.
Does Fart Together use room codes?
Player posts on the Steam discussion hub mention room codes for joining sessions. We treat that as player-reported until the developer documents the feature on the store page or in an official tutorial.
Can you play Fart Together with Steam Remote Play Together?
Steam feature categories for the game list Online Co-op but do not list Remote Play Together. Treat couch-style remote play through that Steam feature as unknown.
Do the Demo and Early Access share the same multiplayer?
The Demo and the Early Access app are separate Steam listings. Whether Demo and EA clients can join the same session is not documented on the store pages we verified. Make sure everyone installs the same app before troubleshooting.
Why do invites or room codes fail?
Player-reported threads describe invites with no response and room codes saying the room does not exist. Those are community reports, not a published fix list. Generic checks include matching the same Steam app, restarting the game, and having the host create a fresh room.

How do you invite friends or join a session?

Steam confirms online co-op for two to four players and a stable internet connection, but it does not document how you invite friends, share a room code, or join a lobby. Honest join-friends guides must separate first-party facts from player reports.

This page will not invent menu names, button labels, or click paths. It tells you what the store proves, what players have posted on Steam, and practical checks that stay valid even when the UI is unknown.

What Steam confirms

Multiplayer is online co-op on one shared raft for two to four players. Steam repeats that online co-op needs a stable internet connection in the requirements notes. Feature categories on the store listing include Multi-player, Co-op, and Online Co-op.

What Steam does not list on the same feature set:

  • Shared / Split Screen or local couch co-op on one PC
  • Remote Play Together
  • A store-page tutorial for invites, matchmaking, or room codes

Official gameplay images show online usernames above hippos, which fits an internet session, but they do not show a lobby screen.

For player counts and solo questions, read how many players can join one raft. For PC and network baselines, see system requirements.

What players report on Steam (not confirmed by the developer)

Player posts on the Steam discussion hub mention friend invites and room codes for joining a session. GamesMrkt has not published a step-by-step guide on the store page, and players have reported problems with invites and room codes (player-reported, not confirmed by the developer).

Examples from threads we could access on 24 Oct 2026:

  • One player described a friend seeing an option to invite others while they did not, invites that appeared to do nothing after acceptance, and room codes that did not work on their side while a friend’s code returned a message that the room does not exist.
  • Another player posted a room code in the forum to recruit teammates, which implies codes exist in the client even though this site has not verified the UI.

We do not treat forum recruitment posts as proof of minimum party size. A thread title asking for three players now is player scheduling, not official rules for starting a match.

What is not documented

Topic Status
Exact invite flow inside the game client Not on Steam store page
Whether invites run through Steam’s friends list Unknown
Room code format, expiry, or host-only creation Not published officially
Minimum players required to start a run Not published officially
Demo players joining Early Access players Not documented
Steam Remote Play Together Not listed in Steam feature categories

If a video tutorial shows click paths without matching official text, treat the video as unverified unless you reproduce the same steps in your build.

Pre-flight checklist before you invite friends

Everyone should install the same Steam app before you debug codes or invites.

  1. Pick one listing. The free Demo and the Early Access app are separate products on Steam. The store pages we verified do not say whether cross-app play works. Align on Demo-only or EA-only nights until official text says otherwise.
  2. Confirm headcount. Co-op is advertised for two to four players online. See how many players for solo and three-player unknowns.
  3. Check connectivity. Steam lists broadband internet and a stable connection for co-op. Wi‑Fi drops and VPNs are common failure points even when FPS is fine.
  4. Steam friends and overlay. Steam accounts can use the friends list and overlay in many games. We have not confirmed that Fart Together exposes its own invite UI or reads overlay invites.
  5. Same game branch. After Early Access launches, make sure friends are not stuck on incompatible betas unless Steam news says otherwise.

If a room code or invite fails

No official fix list exists; the steps below are general suggestions, not confirmed developer workarounds.

Try these in order, and note which app each person launched:

  1. Confirm everyone owns the same Steam app (Demo vs Early Access).
  2. Restart the game on host and guest; restart the Steam client if invites still hang.
  3. Have the host create a fresh room and share a new code if the client offers one.
  4. Temporarily disable unrelated overlays or recording tools that hook into games (common Steam discussion advice for multiplayer indies).
  5. Read recent threads on the Steam discussions hub for your exact symptom. We have no developer-confirmed fix involving Windows registry edits or port forwarding, so we do not recommend either.

For crashes, lag, or broader not-working symptoms, use troubleshooting. If you are new to the obstacle course, skim the demo guide for what the free build is meant to showcase.

Remote play and couch co-op questions

Steam Remote Play Together is not listed among the game’s Steam feature categories, so do not assume you can stream couch co-op through that feature the way some party titles allow.

Threads titled about split screen or local / couch co-op on the discussion hub are questions from players, not proof that those modes exist. Steam’s listing emphasizes online co-op, not shared-screen tags.

Where to ask and report

When GamesMrkt publishes official invite steps or a FAQ update, this guide will be revised with cited sources.
