Fart Together Beginner Guide: Set Up Before You Play

Fart Together beginner guide: try the free Steam Demo, check PC specs, gather 2–4 online players, know what controls are unconfirmed, and what Early Access includes.

FAQ

Should I play the Demo before buying Early Access?
The Fart Together Demo is a free download on Steam, released 8 Oct 2026. As of 24 Oct 2026, Steam shows 472 user reviews at 89% positive (Very Positive). It is the lowest-risk way to test co-op on your PC before the Early Access listing unlocks.
When does Early Access start and how long will it run?
Steam lists Early Access release on 29 Oct 2026 (unlock 17:00 UTC). The Early Access FAQ says developers expect about 2–3 months in EA.
How many friends do I need?
Steam specifies 2–4 players for online co-op on one shared raft and does not list single-player. Solo or three-player starts are not confirmed in official media.
Are the controls documented anywhere?
The store page lists keyboard-only play and full controller support, and the EA FAQ names Xbox and PlayStation DualSense controllers, but no official binding chart is published. The only on-screen key we verified in official trailer frames is ESC for leave (AYRIL in Turkish UI).
How do I join friends online?
Steam categories confirm online co-op and require a stable internet connection, but the store page does not document invite steps. Player posts on the Steam discussion hub mention friend invites and room codes, with some reports of broken invites (player-reported, not confirmed by the developer).
Is Team Race in the first Early Access build?
No. The Early Access FAQ states Team Race is still in development and is not included in the current build, even though the Steam Community hub mentions competitive modes up to 8 players for the full vision.

What should I do before my first Fart Together session?

Install the free Demo, verify your PC against Steam’s requirements, line up two to four online players, and read what is confirmed versus still unknown about controls and Early Access scope.

This Fart Together beginner guide is a pre-play checklist only. We have not played the game on this site; every step below ties to Steam pages, official media, or clearly labeled player reports.

If you want a HUD and obstacle walkthrough from screenshots, continue to how to play Fart Together after this list.

Step 1: Try the free Demo first

The Fart Together Demo is a separate free Steam download, not the same listing as the Early Access game.

Verified Demo facts:

  • Released 8 Oct 2026 on Steam as a free download.
  • As of 24 Oct 2026, the Demo store page shows 472 user reviews at 89% positive (Very Positive).
  • Store copy matches the EA pitch: 2–4 players, online co-op, physics obstacle course, fart-powered shared raft.

The Demo is not a price substitute for the full game. Steam has not published a purchase price for the Early Access app yet. Follow the live Steam store page for pricing when it appears.

Step 2: Check your PC against Steam specs

Fart Together on Steam is Windows-only with minimum and recommended CPU, RAM, and GPU tables, plus a note that online co-op needs a stable internet connection.

Minimum highlights from the store page: Windows 10 64-bit; Intel Core i5-8400 or AMD Ryzen 3 1200; 8 GB RAM; NVIDIA GTX 1050 Ti or AMD RX 560; DirectX 11; 4 GB storage; broadband Internet.

Recommended steps up to 16 GB RAM and GTX 1660 / RX 590 class GPUs. Mac and Linux builds are not listed.

Our full tables and a self-check walkthrough live on system requirements. Running the Demo on your machine is a practical smoke test, but Demo performance does not guarantee the EA build after 29 Oct 2026.

Step 3: Gather two to four players online

Steam advertises two to four players in online co-op on one raft; plan for friends with their own PCs and working internet, not local split-screen.

Store categories include Online Co-op and omit Shared/Split Screen and Single-player. Official gameplay images show online usernames floating above hippos, which fits internet sessions.

Player count nuances (solo, exactly three players, eight-player Team Race) are covered on how many players.

Invites and room codes

Steam does not publish a click-by-click invite guide on the store page. Posts on the Steam discussion hub mention friend invites and room codes for joining a session. Some threads report invites that never connect or room codes that fail (player-reported, not confirmed by the developer).

Treat forum codes as unofficial matchmaking, not a guaranteed way to queue. For a structured summary of what is verified, read how to invite friends.

Step 4: Know what is not published about controls

You can confirm support categories on Steam, but not the actual keys or button map, before you launch.

Verified today:

  • Store features include Keyboard Only Option and full controller support.
  • Early Access FAQ mentions Xbox and PlayStation DualSense controllers.
  • Official trailer frames show ESC beside AYRIL (leave) only, with no movement overlay.

We have not found an official source for any movement or fart binding. The controls page lists what first-party material shows and marks the rest as not published.

Step 5: Set expectations for Early Access

Early Access is scheduled for 29 Oct 2026 at 17:00 UTC, with about 2–3 months of EA planned, and Team Race is not in the launch build.

From the Steam Early Access FAQ:

  • Current EA scope: playable 2–4 player online co-op obstacle course.
  • Team Race is still in development and is not included in this build.
  • Developers plan more courses, obstacles, modes, characters, and customization later.
  • Feedback channels include Steam discussions, Discord, and player surveys.

The Steam Community hub description mentions competitive modes supporting up to 8 players in the broader vision, but that is not something to expect on day one of EA. Details: early access guide and release date.

Step 6: Where to report bugs or ask questions

Use official Steam discussions first; the Early Access FAQ also names Discord and player surveys as feedback channels.

Primary hub: https://steamcommunity.com/app/5117550/discussions/

The Steam store page links to the developer’s community channels (including Discord) and lists support email farttogether@gamesmrkt.com. For connection or invite issues, start with troubleshooting so you separate PC and network checks from game-specific bugs you may need to describe in a discussion thread.

We cannot confirm response times or whether a report belongs in Demo versus EA without repro steps from your build.

Your first run: what you can prepare without spoilers

Watch the official Steam store trailer, skim the HUD and hazards shown in screenshots, and expect a timed obstacle run on a shared raft, without assuming unpublished rules.

A factual pre-run routine:

  1. Watch the trailer on the Steam store page (Trailer Main Final on the listing). It is promotional, not a control tutorial.
  2. Read the HUD section on how to play so you recognize the segmented progress bar, count-up timer, top-left green bar, and top-right loop-arrow number without treating them as explained mechanics.
  3. Expect hazards you saw in official art: spiked canal walls, rotating spike assemblies, hanging blocks, gates, and FINISH signage. Damage rules are unknown.
  4. Launch with two to four humans online if you want to match Steam’s advertised co-op band; test solo or three-player only if you accept unknown results.
  5. Leave with ESC when the Turkish UI prompt AYRIL appears in trailer footage. That is the only binding confirmed in official video frames.

We deliberately omit timing advice for clearing obstacles because that requires hands-on testing we have not done on this site.
